Explore island ecosystems and engage in educational activities during the boat crossing to Catalina and on shore. Snorkeling, geologic investigations, plant classification, dissections, nighttime activities, and catch-and-release fishing make this program an action-packed island adventure! This program is an educational adventure offering participants an opportunity to explore the ecology of Catalina Island, both on land and in the surrounding waters. Students will develop a unique perspective and gain in-depth knowledge of this popular Channel Island.

    • We do ask that you bring a maximum of six adults.

Schedule

Day 1
7:00 – Arrive for check-in and gear fitting
7:30 – Depart Dana Point (Bathymetric Mapping/Wheelhouse, Snorkel gear fitting, Lunch)
11:30 – Arrive in Catalina (Plant/Geology Hike)
1:30 – Arrive at Fisherman’s Cove for Snorkeling
3:30 – Hike across Isthmus (Island Ecology and Mud Flats)
5:30 – Pick up at Two Harbors, Transit to Long Point
7:00 – Dinner (Burgers)
8:15 – Night Stations (Squid light, Bioluminescence, Plankton)
9:00 – Lights out
Day 2
6:00 – Wake up
6:15 – Breakfast (Pancakes)
7:00 – Catch and Release Fishing Study
8:30 – Depart Catalina
9:00 – Dissections (Mackerel and Squid)
10:00 – Marine Mammal Watch, pack up bunks and change clothes
11:00 – Lunch (Burritos/Chips/Salsa)
12:30 – Arrive in Dana Point, Goodbye!
