Outdoor Science School for the Day

In this one-day version of the Outdoor Science School Overnight, students explore areas of the Cleveland National Forest as field scientists, making observations and using critical thinking skills to construct conclusions within each ecosystem. Field research may include: identifying plants, collecting specimens, investigating microhabitats, collecting data for abiotic factors and more. The program includes three daytime rotations of the teacher's choice. Students will develop and exercise scientific practices, including: observing, communicating, inferring, interpreting data, identifying and classifying. Students will practice scientific inquiry by analyzing patterns and studying cause-and-effect relationships to create a foundation that allows them to develop disciplinary core ideas.
